So you want to write an ebook – and are eager to get going. But wait! There are a few simple things you need to do first to make sure your project goes smoothly and fast.
1. Research what’s available
Before you set out to create your content, survey the marketplace. See what others in your niche are doing. Study their process. Look at their quality and depth of their content offering.
Then, decide how you are going to DIFFERENTIATE yourself, set yourself apart from the crowd and become someone special in that niche.
2. Brainstorm
In free-style, jot down notes about what you are going to offer prospects in your niche. Just list things without worrying about details. Rely on your expertise and knowledge. Think about what kind of value you can add to your audience.
3. Arrange your content
After you have listed all the pieces of content you plan creating or offering to your prospects, the next step is to arrange them into some kind of structure.
- What will you give/create first?
- What will follow it with?
- What more will you give people who have already got this?
- What is your next step, and how will it benefit your audience?
4. Decide how much to give
- You may know enough about a subject to fill 10 volumes. But are you going to share all of it?
- Or will you give some, and withhold the rest?
- Or will you use part of it as a ‘teaser’ sample, to entice some prospects to pay you to learn more?
- How much will you be writing or recording on a topic?
- Will you have articles of 500 words? Or will your ebooks be 50 to 60 pages long?
- And will you create one new report every week, or month, or less often?
5. Plan who will create your content
If you intend outsourcing your content, identify your writers or creative people and have them tested and trained before you begin. I’ve had multiple projects stalled because the people I hired couldn’t deliver, or had to quit for some reason or another.
6. Set timelines and schedules
Having a goal and deadline for each component of your infopreneur project will guarantee it gets done, and done on time.
Decide how much content you will get done on a daily or weekly basis. Create a system to monitor and track progress. Without such a system, you will get hopelessly lost and fall behind.

Nice Tips.
Writing a ebook is not easy it requires a lot of research and time to create a quality ebook. You need to check if the ebook will help readers and if it actually is worth buying.
Yeah.. you should actually know what the readers need to make your ebook more interesting and informative. I suggest put yourself on your readers shoe..make sense for me.
Or maybe make shortcut, pay somebody to write it.
Thanks for this! I’m working on a few e-books right now and it’s always good to get perspective.
Stanley, thanks for publishing my guest post
@Teen Blogger – Great points. It’s important, though, not to get too deeply analytical to the point you put off writing that ebook!
@brother toner – Awesome. “Put yourself in your readers shoe” is THE single most critical step in having a best-selling ebook – and also one of the hardest. Empathy is any writer’s biggest asset.
@Feller – That’s the topic for a future guest blog post
@Ibrahim – Glad you liked it and found the article of some value.
All success

I really think that the process of writing E-book is really concise & simple. Dr. Mani has done an amazing & tough task of putting such vast information into few bullets with ease.
However, fine tuning the details & confirming facts is very important part, which shouldn’t have gone without mention, even though professional writers are part of your process.
I have read Dr. Mani’s book on niches and found this interview quite fascinating. Thanks for this interview and the post.
I suggest outsourceing writing an ebook unless it’s just something you really want to do yourself.
Good tips.
I’ve written one ebook till now, and that did quite well. These are some valuable points to be noted.
And always plan to overdeliver…
Nice tips

Gr8!! idea and a great blog. You need to check if the ebook will help readers and if it actually is worth buying. I appreciate your work.

Thanks alot
I’ve made my fair share and seen enough eBooks to know how easy it is to fail, this pretty much enforces what i already know, great post.
It’s an OK post, I think you need to cover the brainstorming and creative aspects more. Once you’ve got your ideas sorted, it really doesn’t take that long to create a product.
Useful post Stanley, we all know it’s not rocket science, but even for the more experienced internet moneymaking wanabes this is a good checklist to remember. Thanks for the time in putting it together, I look forward to perhaps a more advanced version sometime!
This is very useful.. Thanks..
Nice list of 6. Unfortunately, most don’t make it past the first two steps and ever really put pen to paper!
These tips are very good for newbie
Hey this is really good advice. I bet anyone who wants to write an ebook can come here, grab the ideas and get started. Great post!
These are great tips, its always good to schedule and make a timeline, this way you can know how you are doing in relations to the deadline. This is important for every project you begin to work on.
Nice one with your tips about what to do before writing an eBook. Having written so many, after I compile a list of all the information, the next thing I do is develop a master outline. This has really helped me in the past.
this is a great business. selling e-book beyond the internet. I agree with this
