A few of you know that I’ll be stepping up the promotion for this blog due to Blogging Idol – one of those plans is to hit the frontpage of Digg.

I’ve done it before, with some help – of course, i did not know it at the time. Ironically, the article that hit the front page was about picking good web hosting… a guest post, from a friend. However, as the diggs began to come in, the blog repeatedly crashed – it was on shared hosting and could not handle the 11,000 visitors per day Digg sent.

This time, I’ll be a lot more prepared – I have a reseller account, at Hostgator which can withstand a lot more visitors; I also have WP Cache on hand to enable when things start getting strained.

I however do not have any leverage this time for Digg – my old account was disabled after I participated in one too many Digg swaps at the time and although I have a few accounts that are fresh, none of them have a) history or b) friends, two things that are vital in getting a story off the ground.

I do however have the coolest blogging community out there that will (hopefully) help me hit Digg’s frontpage – I’m estimating around 500 Diggs to get going.

At 5PM GMT on July 11th, I want to produce a blog post that will hit the front page. The blog post will be entitled something similar to ‘Five Things That Tell You You’re Obsessed With Blogging’ or ‘You Know You’re Obsessed With Blogging When…’ – something like that. If you have any suggestions, let me know in the comments section. :)

I’ll looking for someone established in Digg to submit the blog post, and everyone to help me out by Digging it. If you guys could help, that would be pretty cool. I promise to make this post top quality, short and humourous – the things you need to succeed on Digg in this niche :)

If you feel capable of submitting the article (with success in doing things like this before) or want to offer any advice / suggestions – let me know in the comments, or contact me on instant messenger.

Personally, Digg won’t make me money directly – however indirectly it will help get the word out to more people that had never seen this blog before (last time I hit Digg, 97% of the visitors were new) and even if 1% of them convert into subscribers, all’s good.

Have you ever hit Digg’s front page – if yes, what was your experience? If no, why haven’t you, or why aren’t you aiming to do so? :)
