Make sure you enter the contest to win a Nintendo Wii. I also might need some guest posts – I know I promised top notch content created by me, but I tweaked my abdominal muscles recently and it hurts like a… well, probably best I don’t end that. Anyways, if you feel interested in helping me out, let me know. This has to be the best content you’ve ever produced in your life, preferably talking about a way to generate some income.

I changed this blog focus from your standard MMO blog to an entrepreneur one for many reasons – less hostility, for one and also so that I could talk about entrepreneurship in general, including experiences of my own – rather than having to talk about money, money, money all the time.

I’m going to share an event that recently happened – something you guys might find interesting. Something that could only happen in an entrepreneurial world :)

A lot of you will have seen the standard forum spam – threads started generally about electronic gadgets like Blackberries, iPods, iPhones and the like or things like shoes. They tend to get annoying, especially if you run your own forum – I’ve had to delete around 3-4 a week since starting Blog Premiere.

However, I do have sympathy for some of the owners of those companies – they tend to be from places in Asia like China, and what some owners have told me is that they buy into ‘marketing packages’ – promising thousands of visitors, by seemingly legit companies… only to spend a few hundred dollars towards someone using Xrumer to spam forums and the like. And one the chain starts, the damage is done – and the company gets a bad name.

Anyways, I came across one of these spamming companies, and the forum thread came with an MSN address – so I added the guy to see what was up, and why he had spammed Blog Premiere.

I was a little less polite than I am here, but basically I asked why he did it – what he told me was that he didn’t know how to promote his products and was doing everything he could.

One of the features of these types of forum posts are the lower prices – usually 20 – 50% off market prices. If you get them at that kind of price, you could make a killing – even just locally.

I spoke with him a bit, and what he told me was that they bought products at wholesale prices – ergo the discount – and were based in Georgia, in the USA. A fact I verified doing a few checkups.

Anyways, I told him I’d sell a few thousand dollars worth of his products if they were high quality – and asked for a sample. They agreed (they didn’t even know what Craigslist or eBay was, so I was definitely able to help them out) – I asked them to send a sample to my house to check for quality, so at the moment an iPod is being shipped here via Fedex. With more on the way if all goes well.

Just a little tale I thought I’d share with you guys – they key is networking, and even if you feel that you might not be able to network with someone, all you have to do is ask – you may even be surprised.

I’ve decided to do that post about a guaranteed $500 blog sale all in one – probably the longest ever post on this blog, and maybe the longest post of all time. Anyways, stay tuned for it, it’ll help you guys make money (hopefully :) ). Laters! ;)

Well done my friend, that is savy.
I never ever thought about contacting a spammer and asking him why he spams. Let alone helping a spammer out.
I would love to have landed a new ipod.
Personally I am trying to think of a new angle to come from at my site. I have previously been doing a personal finance blog but I need a new angle.
Do you think a good angle would be “The Wealth Tips of a Struggling Entrepreneur”?

Well, that is an interesting story. I guess it just goes to show that if you make a bit of an effort with people, and try to find out their motivations, you can actually get some kind of a dialog, and co-operation.

    Well done!

    Good story especially the part

“what he told me was that he didn’t know how to promote his products and was doing everything he could.”

I think thats why people get spammed so much people see a opportunity they attack it and the affiliate webmasters don’t even show you how to promote the product the right way.

hey let me how this goes i wouldnt mind getting in on the action…just asking.
