Over the last few months, there have been quite a few changes on this blog… some positive, some negative.

You guys stick around because I’ve tried to produce good content that helps, as well as things like contests and projects that will benefit you guys.

Unfortunately, I have three social projects… all of them that were meant to benefit you guys, all of which have been neglected over the last few weeks.

The first is Blog Premiere – one that was growing quickly into one of the web’s elite blogging forums. Sadly, I didn’t have the time or energy to continue promoting it and it went from 200 – 300 posts daily to around 10, where it is at now. To be honest this is entirely my fault – I rushed the organization of the first contest, and due to this got in a few crappy sponsors… who disappeared when it was time to give out the prizes, leaving people (myself included) pissed off. Another reason for the decline was the summer holidays ending, and that the forum was comprised of mostly teenagers who took the last few weeks off from IM (again, like myself  )

The second thing is the site flip project… I wanted to hold a large scale flip contest, where everyone could learn something and get themselves a lot of exposure while also making a decent amount of money. Again, lack of time meant that I let people down… in this case, it was a lot of people with more than 40 odd people signing up for it. My mistake here was that I started organizing this a week or so before uni started, thinking that I could do both… and when uni did start, I was unable to cope with both things so had to let off one.

The third thing was the ‘live site flip’ … I’m not sure how many people remember this, but I still do, and again feel bad for letting you guys down. What I basically intended to do was flip a site ‘live’ for around $1,000, as I do not disclose the URLs of other flips on here. My thoughts were that it would be a decent learning experience for you guys, as I could show you properly how things I’ve talked about on here like contest arbitrage actually work.

My problem here (those words seem to be popping up quite a few times in this post :) ) was that as it was a new project, and I wanted to do things ‘like a newbie would do’ … I didn’t do many of the things that I do on my other sites, like outsource posts or social bookmarking submissions. This meant that the blog took a longer time to get off. It is also hard to motivate yourself to ‘work’ (I haven’t really done much of that in ages, thanks to the joys of outsourcing) on something that isn’t bringing you a lot of money when you have other projects making 10, 15, 20x more per month with a tenth of the work put in.

Anyways, to try and make it up to you guys, I’m going to combine the above two into one thing… that is if people are interested.

First off, the website is Da Blogger… most of you will have come across it at some point if you read blogs. I bought the domain ages ago, as I thought it was a decent short, potentially brandable one… but never really did anything with it.

Total time spent was around 2-3 hours per week, so maybe 10-12 hours for the month to work on it (this includes writing posts, promoting it and answering emails).

After one month of work on it (although I tailed off after the first 2-3 weeks) it stands at 200~ subscribers, around 100 uniques daily nowadays with no promotion (300 – 500 when it was being promoted) and in its first month brought in $142 in revenue. Nothing spectacular, but if it was still being promoted would be worthy of at least $700 – $1,500 on Sitepoint and with better stats than most bloggers see in their life.

As for how it was promoted… pretty easy. Contests (remember contest arbitrage, as if you use it you WILL make money!), forums (asked a friend to make a few posts for me promoting it) and comments on other blogs. A simple strategy that any of you guys could replicate. I also had things like guest posts submitted and people contacting me to offer to sponsor prizes – again, I did not use my name here so apart from the people I told, no one knew it was me. This means that ANY ONE of you could have built a blog to a similar level.

Anyways, here’s where the site flip project and the live site flip come together.

At the moment, DB is one of my smaller sites, and one that I (to be completely honest) don’t really have time for. Due to this, it is stuttering along at the moment, even though that it could (with a little bit of promotion) do pretty well.

Normally I would outsource the content, costing me something like $50 – $90… however, I wanted to offer you guys a ‘joint venture’ before doing this to see if anyone is interested. This could be beneficial to you, and it will be beneficial to me too :)

What YOU will do… is work on the blog for one month. I’ll give you login details, and you can market it however you want. As it is already fairly established, it will be easier than getting a brand new blog off the ground, and if brought back to the levels it was at a couple weeks ago, could easily sell for $1,000 – $2,000.

You’ll need to make 10-20 posts over the next month, and market it. I’ll give you advice daily (so at the very least, you’ll learn a shit load by me personally coaching you), however you can also use ideas of your own to market it. At the end of the month, I’ll list it on Sitepoint, and we’ll split it 50/50.

So if the website sells for $1,000, you net $500, I net $500. For me, I work less on the site (ten minutes a day giving you advice should you need it, as opposed to dealing with freelancers, checking up on it) and for you, it’ll be a learning experience and the chance to make some money.

Some people won’t be interested in this joint venture – no problems. If no one is interested, I’ll hire a content writer, let them create 30 odd posts and list it in a month and keep 100% of the sale price.

If you are interested though, leave a comment or send me an email telling me WHY you should be the person to work on DaBlogger. I’ll pick one person by the 28th, and in the case of two or more entries being equally good, I’ll choose the one that was sent first.

Let me know if you guys are interested. I want something that is fairly committed to working and learning, as if I wanted someone that wasn’t committed… well, I’d just keep working on it myself.

Luckily, this uni student has the next week or so off. Meaning more posts for you guys! :D
