Recently I started a mentoring program for my readers… my blog is about How To Sell Adult Content. I did this because I like to help people make money. I also hope that they can learn what an important tool a mentoring can be in a persons life, and what a difference it can mean for them financially.

What is Mentoring & Why Do It?

A mentoring program is a very powerful tool that can help you reach your potential because of the training and empowerment it provides. Mentoring is also one of the most effective ways for you to advance in
your career because your skills are developed and your performance is monitored. In short, mentoring enables you to be the person you really want to be. Obviously the goal of mentoring is that you find a
mentor program that is worthwhile, but I have found that even if the mentor teaches you one little thing that makes you more successful, then it was well worth it.

Mentoring is a Two-way Relationship

It is important to realize though that mentoring is a relationship between two people who should trust and respect each other. Mentoring is not simply a teacher-student relationship; it is also a partnership
that will help both the mentor and the mentee (I hope that is a word) grow both personally and professionally.

The mentor can aid the mentee so that he/she can find the right path to follow in their career. The mentors will usually rely on their own experiences in the past and their knowledge about the industry.
Because of this, mentoring can be a great way for a newbie to understand the potential and the options available and progress professionally in the future.

Most of the time, having a mentor will boost the confidence and the self-assurance of a newbie because he has all the support, encouragement, and guidance he needs. But the mentors should also take note that challenging the newbie to do his best is the best thing they can do so that the mentee will know how to handle difficult situations the right way in the future.

As was mentioned earlier, a mentoring program is a two-way relationship; so likewise, the mentor can also expect that he will learn a lot from teaching and guiding another person. This will develop his management and leadership skills so he will develop empathy for people who are experiencing the same struggles he did in the past.

**It should be noted that Mentoring does not mean do it for me and I will take notes. It is often times more of a situation where the Mentor guides, and expects you to fail so that you will learn important lessons (see just about any martial arts movie for an example of this)**

Benefits of a Mentoring Program

A mentor will help a newbie believe in his or her capabilities as a person, not just as a professional. Because of this, the self-confidence of the newbie will be improved and they will be more likely to accept more challenges in the future. The mentor would also enable the newbie to explore new ideas so that you can achieve a higher level of self-assurance in yourself and explore even greater highs of success. The mentoring program will be an opportunity for you to take a deeper look at yourself, your goals, your personality, and your life. This will help you to figure out which path you should take in life.

Other thoughts

It should be noted, the things that are discussed during the mentorship program should always remain confidential between the mentor and the newbie. In my personal situation, I am trying to learn how to manage others and perhaps hire some staff underneath me, but I don’t want my secrets being broadcast all over the net. Also, the mentorship program should be focused on the person, not just the tasks involved. The mentor should be aware of the everyday challenges that his student faces so that these issues can be faced accordingly and enable the newbie to succeed. So for you mentors out there, understand that your mentee might still have a 9-5 and perhaps can’t do “all” of the things that you recommend or expect on a daily basis.
