I rarely used to get comments like this before, but heck, guess when your Pagerank gets bumped up a lot and you have dofollow enabled on both the comments and the top commenters widget in the sidebar, it’s going to happen.

In recent weeks, I’ve been finding myself coming across quite a few annoying comments – comments designed only to get into the top commenter’s list and secure a few backlinks… stuff like ‘Nice post’, ‘Wow’, ‘That’s cool’ etc. Whilst I may give off the aura of being pretty lazy, I’m certainly not thick (much  ) and from a week after this post (take this to be my comment policy post) I will be deleting any comment (or changing the anchor text – and trust me, it won’t be funny for you  to something way obscure for serial offenders). Another thing I’d like to get out of the way is please, do not use YourWebsiteName.com as your name in the comments – use just the website name or your keyword if it’s relevant (ie don’t use Super Amazing Viagara Pills). Whew, now that that’s out of the way, time for the general rubbish light hearted stuff you find on TUK. :D

Oh please Jason, plug me

I did say I’d do this yesterday, and so I will… in order of who contacted me. First off, is PSD Proxies, who are holding a contest where you can win free advertising in a footer of one of theirs – considering their last template got around 300 downloads in its first week, that’s not bad at all, eh :)

Secondly is Web Auctions Daily, a nifty website that aggregates feeds from various websites (that’s what I think it does, anyways  ) – pretty cool if you want to keep in touch with the latest stuff for sale in the webmaster world. I came across a few interesting websites looking at it and if you’re bored and want to waste time, it’s sure as hell more interesting than Facebook and various other rubbish like that ;)

Last, but hopefully not least is Sinporium with a decent article on Gaming Using Stumble Upon to your maximum advantage – it’s a pretty decent one, so have a look. There’ll also be a guest post on TUK in the next week or so about Stumble Upon, so use this to get yourself ready :)

I think I’ll do one of these every week, maybe as an individual post if things get submitted a lot – from now on though, please email requests to admin[at]theuniversitykid[dot]com – saves me time from having to remember them and it’s easier

I had the fascinating subject that is Law 101 in uni today, nice and early at 9:30 (meaning I was woken up at 8… jeez! )… anyways, did only basic stuff as it’s the first week but I can tell it’s not going to be much fun  . I have a holiday tomorrow, and was going to sleep in but had my parents tell me we were going shopping early morning instead. Woo!

For my eBook joint venture – we’re on course to break $500 in its first ten days… remember, if you have a top notch idea and want to make some cash with it, you know who to contact. Pretty easy stuff on my part considering the reports take less than twenty to thirty minutes to write…

After my Adsense earnings died, I’m in mood to slowly start boosting them again – nothing too serious, given the fact that I’m still without a PIN number, but I hate logging in every five or so days and seeing earnings at $0.00. :( . One of those sites that I’m looking at picking up is Element Guide… a pretty sweet one and considering it’s custom coded, I think I could get a tonne of articles done, develop the website and offer the script for a price on the backend. Buyers tend to love websites with multiple streams of income, so that’s what it could become… still need to talk to the seller though. As for what it’ll cost… I tend to be someone that is a bit of a cheapskate has an amazing eye for bargains, and full rights to the code etc should set me back around high $xx.

Nothing too costly. I’m also trying to get rid of a few of my eBook sites, ones that I’ve had sitting around for a while now and not done anything with… there isn’t too much interest, and the little interest there is tends to be the average freeloader.

Last but not least, the day is nearing… February 5th is when I’ll launch a contest with $150 pure cash, a couple eBook passes, all the Entrecard credits I have so far and maybe a few other things as prizes. If you have anything you want to offer up, or have suggestions for more, feel free to let me know in the comments ;)

Time for FIFA, and this post is long enough anyways. Before I go, I’ve got one question… what projects are YOU working on?

I don’t have any projects at the moment, I just handed in an essay and a project for school focusing on ‘careers’.

School seems to be dominating over everything at the moment.

That sucks that the PIN number still hasn’t arrived, keep bugging Google and surely you will get it :)

Thanks for the link to ‘game’ Stumbleupon by the way.

Seems to me adsense plays hard to get sometimes.
Heard that Hypervre sites pull in adsense bucks, havent tried it personally.but content sucks in those sites.
Time you launched a membership site with the forum and give us free passes :-)
Load the membership site with goodies(plr, templates, minisites)and
have a residual income. Well that is one of the projects I am thinking of.

Sounds like your ebook project is going great. I really need to get back into ebook writing, just not too motivated at the moment. Got some pretty good ideas though…

“what projects are YOU working on?”

I actually thought of a DAMN good idea today that would be helpful to the WHOLE domaining industry + more. I’m still considering seeing if it’s actually something that can be pursued since I’m not exactly a coder. I was thinking of throwing the idea around to a couple trustworthy people who would be interesting in starting something. The idea sounds extremely fresh, I don’t think anyone is doing it now, perfect domain + typos are available, and I think it’ll be viral. Problem is? It takes work… but I think it’ll pay off. I’m going to be buying the domains and thinking about whether this can be done or not in a reasonable/helpful way.

Back to paying attention to my professor… ::sigh::

Got one project coming up on my side Jason.
Basically, a forum, along with a Rapidshare Premium downloader, which I believe could be a BIG hit if promoted well…

Since there’s tons of twits out there without a premium account :P

I used to have a one month premium account, it was alright, I was crazy for 5 days and then forgot about it, hehe.

You are going to need plenty of rapidshare accounts. man how those warez sites leech off your acciunts.

I hate annoying comments, I used to get them frequently on my discussion forum. I closed the forum though since it grew out of hand, and it did not want to regulate it any longer. I will look into that PSD Proxy Contest. Thanks.

Not working on any project right now except my regular online writing job and, of course, school. Finals week is already nearing here. :( On the brighter side, after the Finals, it’s summer vacation!
