This blog post is part of a 6-part mini-series on “Profiting With Interviews“.
You’ve finished conducting your interviews, now it’s time to actually make money from the interviews. There are several forms you can package your interview depending on what your purpose is:
1. Audio
The simplest way is just to leave it as it is – audio. Whether it’s going to be a streaming podcast or MP3 download, it’s really up to you. You can choose to offer the streaming version of the interview for free and charge people access for the MP3 download for them to upload on to their iPods, or you can give people snippets from the interviews and charge them for the full download. If the quality doesn’t turn out to be too good (if done over the phone), then perhaps you might want to do some editing. There are plenty of free audio editing softwares such as Audacity.
2. Transcripts
You can increase the value by offering transcripts. For example, you can offer a “lite” version with only the audio for $27, and have a $47 upsell where you offer word-to-word transcripts for it. There are people who will take this package as some people will want the “complete” package or prefer to read. Alternatively, you can compile it into a book, like I did with eMillions, and offer the audio as an upsell (which is what I’m planning to do) Here are the two sites which I use to get my interviews transcribed: escriptionist.com and castingwords.com
3. Physical Course
A digital version of a course will usually retail at around $47-$97. However, a physical version of the same exact content, e.g. audio compact discs with a printed copy of the transcripts in a three-ring binder, will sell for $97-$297.
See the difference?
A physical course has a higher “perceived value” than a digital course. One is electronic (and the customer knows that it costs almost nothing to produce it), while the other has that “touch” value to it and can be stored on a bookshelf. By just changing the MEDIUM in which the product is offered, you can make a lot more money from the exact same content.
4. Membership
You can launch an ongoing SERIES of interviews and put it in a membership site. Then every single month, you conduct two interviews with experts in your field and charge a monthly fee for it. Heck, you can even combine this with the method above, where you package it into two CDs and mail it to their physical address. So rather than working hard to get that sale and only get paid once, you can get paid month after month after month. And you’re letting someone else create the content for you!
5. Articles
Finally, you can turn those interviews into several small chunks of articles. It’s your choice whether you are going to post it on your blog or submit them to article directories or compile them into a viral report. You can probably get around 8,000-10,000 words from a 1 hour interview (depending on how fast they speak). The only downside to this technique is that you don’t actually make money directly from the content, however, by providing good FREE content to your market, you will be able to establish your reputation and build a relationship with your subscribers and customers.
I hope you enjoyed this 6 part blog series. As I said before, this is the entire backbone behind eMillions. I tried my best to be as transparent as possible to explain this system. I just want to sum this up by saying: If a 15-year-old can do it, why not you?

Yes, why not indeed? Great series of posts and very interesting. I look forward to more.
I have say – great series, very informative and useful
If we selling interview product, it will be all our product or we have to share with the people that we interview?
David
One of the things I have always struggled with has been getting interviews right! Your series here has really helped me brush up on my technique, thank you so much.
Just one question…how do you handle copyright? I’m just curious. Either way.. you also have to plan an interview right – great questions will make it a great sell.
Awesome tips. Interviewing someone is something I have not really done in the past and with this series I do hope I can start one now…
“I just want to sum this up by saying: If a 15-year-old can do it, why not you?”
That shows that anyone can jump in if they have the right mindset and determination.
These are great tips, thanks for sharing them. Its always good to know how to make more money. Interviews are a great way to do that.
Thanks for the tips! I’ve never conducted interviews before and these can be very useful tips for me.
Physical courses are the ones tht are usually profitiable and lucrative since its more expensive yet attractive to customers…
I’m not buying it. Obviously interviews can be fine, but I think that most people see them as a simple opportunity to fill up space rather than a legitimate lesson. People like to talk about themselves, this is factual. But other than that, there is really no reason to be interviewed… much less pay to hear someone ramble on about themselves
Amen. I agree with it Jim..
I think The Net Fool is right. Interviews can be great occasionally, because you don’t ACTUALLY have to come up with anything to blog, but really..the cost v.s. the profit, I don’t think it’s worth it.
The five methods you have given above is looking good and everyone should be able to profiting with the interviews. By this we can easily make more money. How can I get the memberships site? Please give me the necessary guidance.
Thanks for part 6!
good post, a lot of information to take in, but extremely worth it, IMO!
Keep up the great postings! Will check back often.
Great information, do you know you could have rather packed all the 6 sessions into ONE product, and you’ could’ve sold 100’s of copies. Really appreciate your posts.
Thanks for this extensive interviews article!
Was really looking forward to this part, thanks! I never expected interviews to be so profitable after all.
Stanley, that was smart. One pack of information can be used differently based on:
needs
psycho-graphics of your niche
suitability & re-usability
I loved the way you expanded the article & gave examples & resources for people to choose from.
Great idea.keep up the great posts.
