Reading through other blogs (usually instead of doing something productive, like daily assignments) is something that I do nearly daily – although I don’t use an RSS reader, a skim through a few of blogs I check up – ranging from friends that I personally know online to those that provide informative, amusing or interesting content (see Problogger, John Cow and Winning the Web for examples of those) while there are also a few blogs that I read on an occasional basis because I’ve come across a post that kicked ass once upon a time. John Chow is not one of the blogs I read, as whilst I admire the wealth he has amassed his blog does not provide much quality content for reading.

I must have been living under a rock for the past week or so, but I recently came across quite a bit of ‘Blogger Beef’ (.COM available if anyone wants to start up a new niche site :) )… first off was the Blargument’s squibble (and quite a lengthy one) over Entrecard… (why anyone would get worked up over a traffic generation website is beyond me, but hell) – there’s also a few posts that I just came across, although they were dated a while ago – this one at One Man’s Goal, the whole whinge-fest at Blog Catalog and more recently, this experiment at Rookie Blogger – the only one I responded to personally. There’s also my buddy Geoff at Can’t Get Rich, who picked up quite a bit of unfair flak for his reasonable guest post at John Cow… there were a few other blogger fights around, but I’ll stop this post becoming too much of a link farm so not to mention them

My first thought, when reading those – jeez, man. Sure, I get worked up occasionally, and you may have seen a light hearted bash on TUK a few times, but when people argue and insult each other for posts and posts on end, it gets not just a bit pathetic.. but generally makes those involved seem a bit foolish. As the not-so popular song goes, Where’s The Love… sure, you may hate someone’s guts to the extreme, but if so, ignoring them over the long run tends to do you (and your weak hearts, for those of you that are older  ) a world of good more than squabbling like some five year olds over their favourite toy at the playground. To all those that were involved in one of those little b!tch-fests and visit this post, sit back, take a sip of your favourite coffee/tea/beer/etc and think… should some person living miles away calling you something bad really irritate you that much? I used to get pretty darn pissed off at even the smallest things, but a few events made me employ a far more calmer outlook on life… and it’s all the better for both online business and offline pleasure. :) Note, that if you were one of those mentioned, and were not really pissed off, take this whole post as a bunch of linkbait… heck, it got you to visit, didn’t it? ;)

I noticed the free eBook I gave out got quite a few people interested… some have come back asking questions, which I answered to the best of my ability. If you need any help, ping me via instant messenger (not via email, as I have a few to reply to and haven’t gotten around to doing so) and I’d be happy to oblige. I will delete the automatic replies in a couple of days, so if you want it and haven’t yet, subscribe and read the instructions. :)

I’m currently testing out more of those offers at NeverBlue Ads and had a bright (well, I thought it was anyways) idea… if it works, I’ll write up a short report (that will be offered free to my blog readers, of course) and let you guys know. I’m not going to go into too much detail now, but it’s about the ever popular idea of marketing on Craigslist… as well as Facebook.

I am going to test one of the seemingly interesting schemes on Digital Point, that I came across by reading Jonathan Volk’s blog (which kicks ass btw)… by using Adbrite, and paying $0.001 a click it will not cost a lot to send the traffic and if you get $0.05 per unique visitor… well, that’s quite a substantial amount of profit – if you scale it, of course. I’ll be testing only enough to get to minimum payout, and then I’ll let it sit – if I get paid, great, I’ll rinse and repeat (and let you guys know step by step what I did); if not, I’ll write it off as an interesting and fun experience.

As for the niche websites, I finally got the first one delivered – one about Everest, and it set me back $25.00. Nothing spectacular, but with a few ads put on and some link building I should be able to get it up to the target of a couple bucks daily… and then rinse and repeat with the other niche websites. I found a website coder to design and code my template – I’m waiting to see what he can come up with. I did do a small mockup in Paint for it – don’t look at it though as all it does is highlight my embarrassingly inept graphic skills

I’ve also come across a few decent content writers that seem to be able to produce cheap, quality articles in bulk – I’ll be looking at hiring them for a few niche websites if they receive good reviews. Being really cheap (and I’m talking $0.007 a word here) it won’t hurt much to give it a go.

Last but not least, something for those of you that like a little bit of fun – go to Google, type ‘Find Chuck Norris’ (without quotes) and click ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’. Made me laugh, but I have a pretty easy sense of humour. Thanks for TheProfitHustler for that. Anyways, gotta run – dinner!

Frankly speaking, i have the same feeling as yours.

John chow, the self proclaiming Internet Mogul doesnt share nice tips, most of his posts are the reviews of websites which he charges for.

Problogger, Winningtheweb and a few others are really inspiring and blogs in which we can learn something.

hear, hear. Squabbling on the Net won’t do anyone good. If these people would just like a bit like how they act offline (unless they really act like that even when not in front of the computer), then I think we’ll have a more peaceful blogosphere–sounds like an answer from a beauty pageant :D

Hehe so you say reading other blogs isn’t something to do. What if you learn something to make money. Even though the odds of that are pretty low.

I liked that ‘Find Chuck Norris’ search. The only reason that the results appeared like that of which it is, is because the website made a duplicate of Google and became ranked number 1. That is interesting though…

I agree with Usman, reading other blogs is a great thing to do since you might learn something that will benefit you in the future. Plus, you learn about your competition and an idea might just pop into your simple, little mind when you are reading the articles.

@ Chetan, if only we small bloggers could get up to the stage where 30k people read reviews that others wrote on our blogs, eh?

@ Gian P, a little fighting is good, but there’s way too much of it at the moment. Must be the US elections tension.

@ Sammy, not sure if you’re joking

    @ EGK, heh yeah.

@ Usman, eventually all blogs will repeat the same stuff… there is very little that is unique out here.

@ Jonathan, it’s a good one. Keep it up, I’ll be up there (affiliate marketing wise) someday:razz:

@ DJ, it was funny, eh? As for the blogs, I agree… a lot of the inspiration for posts are from those I read (heck, look at this one).

I’ve been on John’s blog once and that was it. His content makes me wanna finish reading it fast. Although, I love the style of your writing, I liked the old TUK better. I based my blog http://www.benjimit.com on it. :D

I never use an RSS reader, I use my ole’ bookmark bar on Firefox.

I have never understood RSS readers and I probably won’t dive in to find out, I am happy!

About the free ebook, I can’t find it, I am such a dumbass, I looked in the emails the subscriber gives me, to no avail.

Finally, the chuck norris thing, it was funny but someone who outranks that beast will be even more funnier :D

@ Troy, agreed…. it works, but it could be better. :)

@ Sawan, you have to read my feed in your RSS reader/email and it’ll give you a message. I wrote a specific post like I did last time ;)

@ Mark, it was user ‘duchs’ from DP. Won it in an auction. Yeah, $25 included everything ;)
