Would you follow what I’m about to teach you if I guarantee you that you will get FREE targeted traffic? This is one of the most underrated and rarely used traffic generation methods.
You are probably wondering how much it would cost you to implement this method. $0. That’s right. It won’t cost you any money although it will cost you time.
If you have a lot of time and no money, this is surely the best method to get targeted traffic.
And the method is…… Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is the process of writing an article for a blog which will in return link back to your site.
How will this help you?
1. You will get free backlinks with anchor text of your choice. This means your page rank will increase and so will your site’s ranking for the keywords you choose.
2. Targeted traffic. You will get high conversions whether you are selling a product or getting them to subscribe to your list. (Side note: If you want to learn about getting the most out of your email list, read this post on “Do you make this mistake many email marketers make?“).
3. Expert status (More on this at the end of the article).
How is this different from article writing?
I know most of you are already confusing this with article writing. When you write for article directories, you get backlink and traffic but the traffic you get from guest blogging will be much more targeted.
You will also have access to a huge reader base by writing for another blog.
Here’s what you should do:
1. Find blogs in your niche (Go to google and search for “your niche blog” with/without quotes)
2. Comment on the blog a few times so that you get to know the author
3. Send them an email asking whether they accept guest articles or not
4. If they say yes, write an article and send it to them
Things to note before writing for the blog:
1. Always make sure the blog has good pagerank.
2. See how many readers the blog has. You check the blog feed subscribers count. If they don’t have one, see their alexa traffic (not accurate though).
3. Check if the blog posts receive comments. A good blog will receive at least a couple of comments.
How you can modify this method?
Find internet marketers who have huge lists and ask them if you can write a couple of informational emails to their list for a link back. There are many marketers who don’t have enough time to send useful emails to their subscribers. Even if they do have, they wouldn’t mind someone else writing for them which will give them a week’s rest.
So stop thinking whether this method would work or not and start writing articles to be submitted as guest posts or emails.
Once you do this for a few weeks, analyze which blogs are getting you the most traffic and concentrate on them. Write more and more articles for these blogs.
When you submit an article to an article directory, you will be just another person because most people who read your article will be search engine visitors. They won’t remember you. But if you are writing for a blog, you will be read by a targeted group of readers. When they see your articles often, they will start seeing you as an expert.
Have you tried guest blogging before? What results did you have? Will you be trying it now? Please share your views in the comments.

This is a good article, but on the subject of comments it’s a good idea to look decide if the owner of the site is also really strict on allowing comments. For example I get spammed a lot, so a lot of my posts have no comments because I instantly delete anything that doesn’t add value to my post or the discussion that starts. But guest blogging is a really good way of getting a solid backlink and targeted traffic.
Carl,
Yes. That’s a solid point. You have to read the comments and see if they are actually related to the post.
Thanks for the comment.
One of the best ways to find blogs in your niche is to search for “Top niche blogs”. For example, I would search for “top weight loss blogs” or something like that.
Melinda,
I agree that “top niche blogs” is a better way of searching although “niche blogs” will also work.
Thanks for the comment.
Guest blogging is a great way to get more traffic, links, and establish yourself as an expert in your field. I have several blogs that I regularly guest post on and many more that I send in posts every once in a while. The results have been amazing. I highly recommend it for many reasons.
Trent,
Its great to hear that this method works well for you.
Thanks for the comment.
Pagerank? That old and long forgotten relic?
It’s virtually meaningless these days.
Jay,
Pagerank doesn’t matter that much in some cases. But when you are building backlinks, PR does matter. It decides the authority of the site linking to you and hence giving you a higher position in Google.
Thanks for the comment.
This is definitely new and news to me. Great posting!
Lorita,
Do take action on this and see if it works for you.
Thanks for the comment.
Finding a good blog with LIVELY community is crucial. Some established blogs don’t do well with comments. Like gathersuccess.com and others. I would also like to consider if the posting frequency. I have made a guest post on some blogs that eventually lasted for like 20 days and obviously maximum exposure for me. The key is doing research and just continuing on it.
Melvin,
Those are some very good points.
Thanks for contributing value to the post.
I’m going to try my best to start guest blogging this year, thanks for this post.
I love this idea/post. For those who say they can’t get the traffic or promote their blog because they don’t have the $$, no excuses anymore!
i think that the best way is you write of something that you have a good information and can write a interesting and diferente thing.
I like allowing guest bloggers, but there is the disadvantage to having to give out the free outgoing links after the posts in exchange for their content. Too many outbound links are never good, not to mention RSS subs don’t really appreciate the guest posts most of the time.
This post is simple but very powerful and impressive. Thank you for this tweak. Lemme apply this, then definitely i will do comment KID eheheh

Your method seems really good. Though it takes time, it’s definitely worth the try. When you don’t have any money, such stuff can be great. Thanks for the share. I will try this out.
Great article. Guest blogging is great for many reasons as you mentioned above.
People love variety and the concept of win/win.
For the other person’s readers, they’ll be happy to receive valuable content from somebody other than who they’re used to hearing from.
And, for your reader’s, be sure to promote your guest blog/article entry.
First of all, you don’t want your regulars to feel like you’re giving others something that you’re not giving them.
Also, in seeing that you’re being read by another audience, they’ll feel that you’re more of a widely recognized figure and will feel even a greater amount of loyalty towards you.

This is definitely a good method to get good backlink juice from blogs, most likely dofollow too.

Great post. I will try guest posting from now on to other blogs.
oh it is good experience and also it is interesting. Thanks for the post
It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to get published on Mashable (since last year ha)… Seriously though, I’m glad you posted this as I was planning on “getting my guest bloggin’ on” pretty soon. Guest blogging vs. any other type of IM (in terms of easiness/effectiveness), guest blogging certainly seems to be the winner.
Thanks for the post,
Garrett
PS Looks like you got sandboxed… Never actually seen that before. Sucks man. How long does that last?
