I’ve been asked by a few what’s happened and have been waiting for the website sale to be finalised so could not disclose much. Now that everything’s done, I write what is probably my last post on this blog.

A little more than a year ago, I started The University Kid Dot Com. Although I did not know it at the time, the name was to develop into a relatively huge brand, at one point making $2,000+ per month and remaining on many top ten blog lists. In the time it’s been up, I’ve made thousands of dollars directly from it – more than that indirectly from it, and more importantly I’ve made hundreds of friends who I’ve interacted with and shared experiences with.

A few months ago, I was noticing that I was having less and less time to update the blog… and content was suffering as a result. I listed it on Sitepoint, somewhat half heartedly… but rejected bids of $6-7,000 as I felt the blog was worth more than that.

I kept writing posts but did not have the time to promote the site due to other activities and thus the website started to decline some more. Rather than continue to do so, and let it die, I decided to list it again in an auction at a low price so that someone else with time on his/her hands could continue on.

The blog was sold for $3,000 a couple days ago; the money paid and transferred to my bank account already. A bit low? Perhaps, but given my situation and who bought it I’m ecstatic with the sale. I’ve sold one month blogs for multiples of that figure but given this blog’s history and it was never only about the money, the end price wasn’t really important.

The blog’s new owner

Thankfully the blog hasn’t gone to some random schmuk that would have promoted crap to you guys and run it into the ground.

The blog’s new owner is Stanley Tang. Some of you may remember me posting about him earlier; I met him when I was in Hong Kong in January and stole a copy of the book he wrote.

What are his credentials?

Stanley is only 16 but his online business currently brings in over $100,000 USD per year.

He has over 35,000 followers on Twitter, making him one of the most followed non celebrities.

He’s also written a tangible book about internet millionaires which has hit numerous top listings in Amazon and continues to sell to this day.

I’ve been called a “wonder kid” in the past, unfortunately Stanley’s doing better than me and he’s younger too.

His knowledge about marketing and marketing related topics is solid and I’m sure you guys will have a lot to learn from him. He’s legit, and if he doesn’t provide you guys with solid information I’ll smack him the next time I visit HK. :)

Give him a chance…

A lot of blogs have died after they were sold because the new owner couldn’t match the old owner. Although I cannot guarantee the content will be good, I’m almost sure that it will be.

Stick around for a month or two, see what he has to offer. Judging by the way and the level to which he’s built his business it should be quite a lot.

Thanks to all

Whether you’ve read, commented, approached me, helped promote or done anything else involving this blog (good or bad)… I’d like to thank you.

I wouldn’t have kept blogging in a niche like this so long if I didn’t have such awesome readers.

Each of you played a part in helping this blog grow into the brand it became – no matter how small a part, you had an impact.

I’ll personally be studying for exams (as well as releasing a high quality site flipping product in the next few days – look out for it! ;) ) as they’re coming up at the end of this month but I will have four months off after that so will look at taking my business to the next level (as well as taking a break and going on vacation, of course!).

Keep in touch – I’m available at Make Money Dynamo occasionally and a lot of you know my instant messenger details. If you want to email me about anything, I can now be contacted at JPereira[dot]owns[at]gmail.com

Thanks again, and I hope Stanley takes this to the levels I couldn’t.

Jason

Damn, what a final post. It’s like the final episode of some hit TV show.

I was pretty shocked when I saw who the winner was on SitePoint (I checked daily). I’m glad he’s the new owner too, as I follow Stanley over at his blog too.

Good luck in the future, Jason and also good luck to Stanley. let’s see what he can do.

Its been a great run Jason! I’ve enjoyed following and participating on this blog for the last year and a half. Its somewhat sad to see you let it go, but its also comforting to know that a quality blogger is taking it over. See you around Jason, and Stanley I look forward to continuing to follow TUK and watch you take this blog back to its glory days! Good luck guys….

Great pickup by Stanley, the market has dropped a fair bit; nonetheless still an awesome buy!

Jason, I know it is a bit disappointing having to let it go for such a low price, however I know you’ll bounce back and I may actually buy your flipping eBook :) – Or sucker you into giving it to me me free :D

Good luck to both Stanley and Jason from me!

Just so you know, these arent really twitter non celebrities. Take a look at the numbers they are following. It is pretty easy. You follow me, I follow you. Automated.

Oh, maybe you won’t approve my comment, but you know what I mean.
