Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night all (depending on where you are  )

Just finished six hours of class and it’s the weekend here, so all’s good. Another statistics lesson that I couldn’t make head or tails of – I end up completely confused in class but someone manage to fluke pretty decent marks in the exams (88% and 100% in the last two). Not bad, but I’ll have to start studying a bit now as the final exams are coming up in January; I’ve never studied seriously for anything before in my life so time to start. Whilst I’m not trying to brag – I really would, if I could do so, as there are a lot of things that it can help with, I just can’t; the computer or latest football match on television is way too tempting, and even if the door is locked and everything is off I find myself staring at the wall and daydreaming after a couple of minutes. Sucks to have a short attention span, eh? Anyways, onto the meat of the post.

Using Google Reader To Keep Track Of Your Fellow Bloggers

Now, I’d say I take a good two hours, probably more visiting up and occasionally commentating on blogs in my niche – while this is a lot of fun, it can often distract me when I’m trying to concentrate on being productive. After I wanted to find an easier way to subscribe (I hate email subscriptions) to posts after Winning the Web offered a free review on John Chow Dot Com, I stumbled across Google Reader – and the ten minutes I took to set it up will probably save me a few hours every week. I’ve added a few of the ‘big name’ blogs to the reader, as well as friends I’ve met on t’Internet; take a look at what it looks like:

Here’s what it looks like. Pretty cool, eh? Every time one of these posters update their blog, I’ll get a ping; all I have to do now is check the Reader once a day and I’ll see the latest news around the blogosphere. If any of you are interested in Google Reader, check out their website at www.google.com/reader - to subscribe to a feed, all you have to do is enter its URL. I’ve also subscribed to my own feed, just to make sure that there aren’t any major goofups. Take a look, it’s pretty cool ;) .

I Hate Beggars

In recent weeks, I seem to have become a c*nt-magnet; and no, I’m not talking about the good kind. After the release of my November 2007 earning stats, I’ve had a lot of people ask me if they could borrow money over the last few days; now, I don’t like to turn people down, and it’s been generally small amounts, so I’ve let it go. Went over my Paypal account today morning though and the amount lent out totaled up to $146.50; I doubt I’ll be getting that back, and that is way too much money to throw away. The last straw was yesterday night, when a guy asked me for a buck; now, what’s a buck? I said sure. After I agreed, he upped it to $10; again, that’s not relatively a lot of money, but it was more the impression that I was some kind of virtual cash machine that pissed me off. Due to this, I’m not lending any money to people now; I don’t care if your dog just died (and believe me, someone did try and pull that trick off) or you need the cash to pay for your school fees; work for the damned money yourself.

I do think charity is required, but not for lazy-assed webmasters; heck, I’m lazy as hell, but no offense – if you can afford to be sitting in front of any kind of computer, you have the capability to work and make $10-$20. I don’t care if you have to slave for a couple hours doing forum posting or writing articles (that’s how I started out); anything is better than begging for money.

My First Earnings From The University Kid

After a little more than a month The University Kid blog is finally pulling in its first bucks; I promised myself I wouldn’t use Smorty, Pay Per Post and similar because I think they’re a load of crap not worth it; yeah, they could bring in an extra $150-200 a month, but yesterday I finally received my first real $$$ from this site; heck, the contest sponsored prizes were nice, but seeing the money flow into your Paypal account is pretty damn cool. It was ironically for a sponsored post, but this one I actually have no problem writing about; it’s for a friend who’s getting his blog off to a kick-start and what better way to do it than by buying a post on The University Kid. If you’d like a sponsored post for a decent price, and unlike other webmaster blogs I’ll write about anything you like – including Viagara – check out my advertisement page. It would be a slight waste of money if you chose that topic, but ah well; I’m not complaining ;)

Some Link Love…

I only noticed this blog in the ‘Linking To You’ section of WordPress yesterday, but Some College Girl (hehe :D ) has some interesting views and some good stuff. A post I noticed and had to share was a Tutorial to Getting Starting; check it out as it has some pretty decent stuff.

Free Proxy Hosting – CONTEST!

I know the only reason loadsa you guys come to this blog is because of the free goodies (heck, I don’t blame you – I come to this blog for the free goodies :D ) so here ya go; in a complete, shameless rip off of the Irish Internet Entrepreneur Smemon’s contest, guess the amount of visitors I’ve received so far and the three closest entries get free proxy hosting for a month with 1 GB space and 25 GB bandwidth. I’ll also offer those packages at just $10.00 a month for all those who don’t win and are interested; if you can’t spare the wait, feel free to send me an email. Told you guys it would be an easy contest; I can’t really be arsed to think up of a ‘cooler’ one

Last but not least

I was reading up on various things and I came across GetMeContent’s eBook package; it’s identical to the one I offered on Digital Point a month back for just $300 and they have it at $999, which is more than three times the price. Damn, knew I was selling myself short, and from the feedback they’ve had from DP, it seems that their content isn’t even that good. I’ll be charging $998 for my packages from now on, so if you want guaranteed, cheaper quality, you know who to come to ;)

Happy blogging (or whatever the hell it is you do) all! :D
