This has been done quite a few times, and I’m dead tired after the flight so rather than think up a new idea for a post, I’ll follow the herd and put up one of the common posts you’ll have seen on quite a few webmaster blogs.

I’m not someone that likes to splurge on things (although I do, occasionally :) ) so my room is pretty boring; no bling here sadly. Even if I did have a Hummer or two, I’m not old enough to drive so there’s no point showing it to you guys, you see

Anyways, enough of the fluff; what exactly does the room of a teenage internet marketer look like?

That’s my desk. Nothing fancy, although I do want to pick up a new laptop – this one was bought in the summer when I had no idea I’d be using it quite so much. I’m pretty undecided on what I want though, so this serves its purpose… for now. Here’s a larger image, still haven’t gotten the hang of resizing stuff you see :)

Stuff I have on my desk:

Water: I’m someone that goes through a couple bottles a day… it’s hot here in Dubai, and you need to keep hydrated

Books: I stopped reading a year ago but recently started a month or so back after I came across a few ones… at the moment, I’m enthralled by the Bourne series by Robert Ludlum – the movie I haven’t watched, but the books for the latter two are amazing. Picked up a few others on vacation, they’re pretty cheap in India (ranging from $1 – $2 USD :) ).

Various other junk: Jewelry, random papers from uni, a box of tissues, some cologne… I’ve got quite a bit of junk there too. I keep telling myself I’ll clear it up, but it’ll be messy again the next day, so I really can’t be bothered to do so. Ah well, eh.

Here’s the laptop screen, advertising everyone’s favourite website

The quality of my mobile phone camera is a little off, but ah well, there you go.

Last but not least, the rest of my room :)

And here’s the full sized image. A messy bed, a host of (mainly) football posters – including a kick ass Arsenal towel that was too cool to use – as well as my lounger chair to chill out on when I get bored of doing work (which is quite often, mind you  ).

That’s all – what does your room look like?

I’m now back in Dubai, and will slowly get back to dealing with emails, responding to instant messages and catching up with a truck load of uni work – slowly, but surely hopefully :) . I will also look to get into affiliate marketing – having wasted $85.67 in Adwords on Clickbank products before I found out that their tracking system was playing up and not counting affiliate sales well…. I’ll be moving into other things, namely NeverBlue Ads (as it’s one of the only ones that accepts the UAE and pays through Paypal).

Affiliate Marketing

I’ll say this straight up – I’m a total newbie and affiliate marketing, which is why I’m not too sure of success to startup with, but anyways… I’m willing to learn, and hopefully will get better at it with lots and lots and lots of practise. The first set of things I’m going to try and promote is an interesting offer through NeverBlue Ads – actual CDs on making money online. There is a set of three that fall under the same company but are different offers – anyways, they cost $1.95 to the buyer and payout $21. Something’s amiss, but that’s the company that’s putting up the offer, eh :)

Here’s their banners – if any of you want to learn how to promote on Youtube, eBay or Amazon, enjoy :)

I think the organizer of the banners took the phrase ‘Sex sells‘ a bit too seriously, as I don’t really see what girls in skimpy clothing have to do with making money on eBay and Amazon, but ah well, there you go. Luckily they also have less risqué banners like the below one:

Slightly more relevant, I guess. If you take a look at the sales pages, all of them seem to be the same – ‘if you can handle filling out forms, we’ll let you make money, up to $5,000 a month’ – a figure that seems pretty difficult by just filling out forms. Perhaps one of TUK’s American readers want to buy the CD and check it out?

I do not think that this campaign will do too well, but we’ll see. At $21/$2 sale, it’s worth a shot, especially as low cost items are generally easier to promote. :)

Edit:

After reading a post at Zac Johnson which linked to this one at 45n5, I realized why. I’m not allowed to check up on USA offers seeing where I live, but went through a proxy and here you go:

Your Internet Profits Money Making CD will ship out within the next 2-3 business days. Your kit is the perfect tool to start making money on the Internet and it’s a perfect tool to work in conjunction with the Passive Profits Incorporated Wealth Intelligence Program. Passive Profits, Inc. has helped thousands of people achieve their financial goals. By submitting this application, you agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Membership of this Web Site’s free trial, and to the following statement:

“I understand that this consumer transaction involves a negative option and that I may be liable for payment of future goods and services under the terms of this agreement for $39.90 a month If I fail to notify the supplier within 10 days of my order and return or cancel the goods or services described.”

Gaah! Gotta find something else to promote, I guess :)

A pretty cool website

I’m in a giving mood for some reason and this website let’s you test out your mental capacity in return for helping others. Not sure if I mentioned in on here before, but those of you that have time to pass at work or school and want to do some good as well, you can take a look at Free Rice, which donates guess what – rice just for playing a game and matching words. Quite intriguing :) Speaking of charity, the donation I made was eventually to an organization run by a priest nearby to where my grandparents stay – one for AIDS sufferers and alcoholics. Let’s hope it helped, even a little bit.

They also have a thing that I’m sure you’ve heard of – ‘Sponsor a child’, where you pay for a child’s schooling and whatnot. At the moment, all they need is $32/month per child… a figure I feel is pitiful, as that’s only a little more than $1 USD a day. I’ll be looking into that, but trying to raise the amount.

TUK Tshirts

I lucked out – the tshirt people (both of them! ) disappeared and I didn’t have time to go out and look for others as it was the last couple of days. There’ll probably be something here, although maybe a bit more expensive… it’ll be worth it in the long run I hope. Gotta hurry up cos everyone else is on the move – other bloggers like Viking Blogger and Ian Fernando have already got theirs done, and I’ve gotta say – they look pretty sweet :)

An idea I had…

Sometimes you just get hit by those ideas – ones that could either hit it off spectacularly or divebomb in a similar fashion. I’m a guy that doesn’t mind divebombing (too much, at least :) ) so will be making a go at it – have sent off a couple emails, and waiting on them to get back before I launch. I will keep you guys updated on what happens, so stay tuned… it’s under wraps for now though :)

Gotta run now… I was hoping that this would be a shorter post than usual, but ah well eh

What are the problems with ClickBank? I used to use them and sent hundreds of visitors to their different sites and never once got a conversion.
Are they known for not tracking well?

Wow, before I even read your comments about the hot little mamas on the “make money” banners, I was wondering what these pretty little darlings had to do with the product, haha!

I’m glad you found the Free Rice site. I really like it…tend to visit it when I’m bored and want to do something productive.

    Thanks for sharing!

As I see, you have to find additional affiliate programs to promote.

@ Ty, people that were making 10 – 20 sales a day have reported making none despite putting in the same amount of money. People have tested it (signing up through a friend’s affiliate link) and it has not registered, so I’ll stay away, for now.

@ Kyle, it’s a singles network that teaches you to make money on Amazon. What’s there not to like?

@ Richy, I’ll ship all over, just gotta get the damned things made :)

@ Erica, agreed hehe. Free rice is cool :)

@ Aleks, will do buddy, will do :)

I have known about FreeRice.com for a while now. I think it is a fabulous website – you learn vocab words while helping end world hunger. The company that made that website was very smart, it is a one-of-a-kind website.

    Nice post, by the way.

  11. Mock exams - over! Says:

[...] Tonight I’m hoping to clean up my bedroom, because when you’re studying for an intense two weeks of exams, you tend to just find the book you need to study and throw it away as soon as you’re done and begin searching for the next one. Then you have to look for a sheet of notes or something, and you end up just thrashing your room, but you haven’t got time to care for that (several nights I stayed up till 3am or so, with the aid of coffee, and got up again at 7am to study some more before going to the exam – procrastination is a terrible terrible thing!). Two weeks later you’re walking on a carpet of books and sheets. Though in the process of thrashing my room, I think I found my camera charger, so once I check that I actually did, it’ll be well worth it! Perhaps I should take some pictures of the finished product and follow in the footsteps of Jason on TUK? [...]

Like the room. Nothing fancy. But it’s not as messy as you say it is. I guess all the clutter is really in your head, where all your money-making ideas reside, haha.

I agree those ads are a bit skimy and TOTALLY unrelated to the offer. But hey, it if works, whatever. :-)
