Why the title? Well, I use Adsense on a few of my other sites, but I can safely promise you that you will never see a single Adsense ad on this website. I have something similar to a love/hate relationship with Adsense; not on their part, because they don’t know who I am but definitely on my part. I love Adsense because it’s easier to setup than the likes of Adbrite, and is also completely legit, unlike a certain other Pay-Per-Click ad company *cough* WidgetBucks *cough*, and I earn a decent sum off Adsense ads on my proxies. On the other hand, Adsense is a pain in the arse; check out nearly every single website on the Internet and there’s a good chance 7/10 of them will have Adsense on them. To avoid turning this website into another one of those, there will not be a single Adsense ad as long as I run it; I will be using the odd affiliate banner (which are flashy and ‘better’ looking); if any affiliate programs want to supply a 125 x 125 banner ad for the sidebar, let me know.
It’s getting closer to the day of the contest; just three days to go. The design; well, it should be ready- I have no control over it but I’ve been promised it by my broker. Prizes for the contest are currently at around $1600 worth thanks to the generosity of a few companies; I’ve even been offered a bong pipe as a sponsored prize, which sadly I had to turn down. Would have been pretty funny though, hehe.
As for the ‘challenge’, I went $0.95 away from breaking the magical $700; I spent a bit though so my current tally is around $630. With a few projects in the upcoming days this should rise; I also have to pay the designer about $130 though and might be spending a bit more on contest prizes, so this is not guaranteed. I’m getting t-shirts done for the website at just $11 each; anyone that wants to buy one, send me a message and I’ll hook you up with a discounted ‘The University Kid’ t-shirt at $9. Had to try, eh? They’ll be up for grabs in the contest though so stay tuned.
Not much else to talk about; writing another couple of eBooks that I will probably sell off for full rights as I want to break $1,000 as soon as possible. Saving up for a trip to Hong Kong, and want $30,000 HKD (about $4,000 USD) to blow on drinks, drugs and girls various activities, so gotta save up!

progressing well! I agree I would never put adsense on my blog. I do have it on another one of my blogs, but it is a bit of an arbitrage test.

That bong pipe would have been good
By the way, wouldn’t the 4000USD for your trip be a lot of money to take out of the total funds you have collected?

Well mate, I’m aiming for 15k USD at the end of all this so aye, it would be a lot but hopefully not TOO much
I thought about taking the bong pipe as a novelty item, but a) they only shipped to the US and b) I doubt most webmasters would be interested in a bong, although it would be pretty funny

Wow, great work on your challenge! Most people who set a goal like 15K in 6 months don’t even come close, and end up changing course just a month into it. I’m quite impressed. It’s kind of funny that I check daily to see the new posts and ideas on a blog written by somebody almost half my age.
I wish I had this kind of opportunity when I was 16, as my life would be drastically different then it is now. No doubt you will make millionaire status by 30.

I could put that bong pipe to good use even if i dont smoke
. I wish i could go to Hong Kong lmao. Regarding the amount of money you make. Isn’t the contest just the amount of money you make? Why would money be deducted from your grand total unless the money is for business. Say you spent $10 on a burger or something, why would you deduct that from the $700?

@ Chris, thanks for the heads up. I’ve set a target of ‘retiring’ (or continuing to laze around as I do now) by 35; let’s hope I reach it eh?
@ Carlin, it was a pretty cool one TBH- skull shaped. You’re right about the Hong Kong thing, it’ll still ‘count’ as money I’ve earned, I think Sawan meant it would be a sh!teload of cash to withdraw. After making 1,000 in 11 days, I’m going to aim at higher for the trip.
@ Jimmy, you should still enter hehe. Wanna sponsor any prizes?
