This is a paid review, however it’s one of the best kinds of paid posts you’ll see – one informing you about a quite easy (to be honest) contest with sweet prizes up for grabs.
Direct Agents are a fairly new affiliate network and one of the best ways to promote yourself when you’re new is by running a contest… one with awesome prizes. What’s up for grabs?
MAIN PRIZE – Weekend getaway for two to the Caribbean
Everyone could do with a holiday (or two)… and what better place to go than to the Carribean? Beautiful beaches, a place to relax without stress… that’s what you’ll get if you make first place in the Direct Agents contest. Take a look:

SECOND PLACE – 42″ Flat Screen TV
I was actually thinking of buying a 42″ flat screen TV for my room (to watch football and the like)… if you hit second place in this contest, you’ll get one free. How cool is that?

Last but not least…
THIRD PLACE – $300 Gift card

The third place winner will get a $300 gift card. $300 can pay for a lot of things – a few years hosting, a couple dozen computer games… and it can be used anywhere, so it’s entirely up to you how you spend it.
What do you need to do to win the competition?
The affiliate that drives the most leads to Bidz short form campaign will win the main prize.
Bidz is a jewelry auction type website, and their offer is one of the easiest to promote out there – it’s a 3 field form, and the payout ranges anywhere from $1 – $7 (which is pretty sweet for the amount of work.
As this is only one campaign, and Direct Agents is relatively new (although growing fast, of course), this is probably one of the least competitive contests out there for you to enter. So get in there and win yourself and a friend a vacation.
Now, here’s an idea of how you can destroy the competition with very little expenditure.
You’ll need to find jewelry forums, ones that discuss it – nothing too niche, but use Google and the other search engines.
Approach the owners, tell them about the benefit of Bidz and ask if you can sponsor a contest. It doesn’t have to be a lot – it can be something small, like $50 to spend on jewelry… but in exchange, ask for banner space or even a pinned thread.
It is incredibly easy to get advertising for dirt cheap on non-IM niche forums (auto forums are another one you can target for other offers – unrelated to this contest). Sometimes you can even get advertising for free if you promote well enough.
Of course, the advertising banner will be your affiliate link, and as Bidz is fairly well known and its a quick signup, you’ll find quite a few people will check out your offer, even if they sign up, browse once and never check the site again. Of course, as you’re promoting to targeted users you’ll find a few of them convert into users of the site too.
This strategy is one I’ve used with success in the past – although I offered a PLR information product in exchange for incentivized allowed signups – try it out.
You could also promote this in the usual ways – a landing page, Adwords, buying reviews on blogs… if you live in the US you could even try some offline advertising. Be creative.
The contest runs until March 31st. You have more than a month to get started and get promoting, so get cracking! You need to sign up with Direct Agents to participate of course, but that’s easy enough.
Even if you’re not going to participate in this contest, Direct Agents is a network I’d recommend you try out – they have a few offers you can profit on. One of the main reasons I like them is the personal touch – they sent me a Christmas card via post, despite the difficulties with the postal system in this region.
I’ll try and get a rough figure of how many leads the current leader has, and will post this in the comments section when I know it. Feel free to ask any questions – whether you want to know about the contest, or if you need help

Thanks for the heads up.
I’m just about to get into affiliate marketing and I think entering a contest might help me get more focused on it.

Hi Norilyn,
Are you referring to the contest or our network in particular? Our network accepts most countries as long as you pass all the checks. For the Bidz campaign in particular, only traffic in the US and Canada is allowed. Hope this helps!

Sounds good actually! Not really my niche, but it can be done, and I might be able to get it underway! Of course, the many other participants like you Jason with brilliant ideas and many resources – may blow away whatever I can do. I will still try for the tv though!

I tried affiliate marketing but its hard to get started and you need to have a great niche. My advice is find a niche and then find a niche inside that niche, its better to dominate the small rather than be nothing in the big.

There is forever a scope to accumulate income via affiliate programs but finding the best product that matches our niche is the most demanding task. I went through a few of your blog posts and found it significantly beneficial. I sincerely think, your blog has upgraded me enough to frame out the concept behind affiliate marketing. I have bookmarked your blog and am following your RSS.
